So my computer has officially told me it’s run out of space on the SSD. And it shows. It is lagging to the extremes of lag. So I ask you, Oppo, how can I clear space without deleting my photos and vids and stuff? For reference it’s telling me I have 28 GB of “other” and I don’t know how to clear that.

.Zip stuff? Buy a 50 buck external drive? Copy stuff up to cloud storage storage?

Check your trash, that very often gets forgotten about. Other than that, go to your browsers and clear temp data, go to your HD settings by going to computer, right-click on your hard drive, in the General tab there is a button lower right of the usage pie chart. Should be disk cleanup - it’ll delete some unused temp files, and other OS garbage sometimes left behind. You can also use the Defragmentation of your drive, through the same menu under Tools tab. Lastly you can spend a few minutes consolidating folders and disregarding files you won’t use. the less folders, the less paths to store and load every time you ask it to look for an app, file or folder. You can also spend $30 on a 64gb storage flash drive, which I personally did, and keep a backup of either your OS, or media. I have both :) hope that helps

try the disk cleanup utility.
I would recommend using a larger and much cheaper conventional or hybrid hard drive for your videos and such. You get a huge performance advantage when installing software on SSD’s, but much less so for accessing media.

Windows disk clean up, you’d be surprised how much junk is there. Also choose advanced options and delete shadow copies.

Just don’t compress old files. That’s how BSODs are made

External hard drive. If you dont have a backup, consider those pictures already gone forever.
Seriously though, you need a backup. Need.
Temp files, recycle bin and log files are the worst offenders.

See if you have a windows.old folder at the root of c:. Or hiberfil.sys. is good to remove if you don’t use hibernation.

Check the Downloads folder for files you don’t need. Sort by largest size.
